CULTURAL NOTES: Spanish business people tend to be conservative and formal on the first meeting; however, they loosen up and become very friendly after a few meetings. It is recommended to begin speaking by using usted instead of tú. If they tell you, "Me puede tutear," which means "you may use tú to address me, " you may use tú. Go slowly in establishing a relationship and avoid taking a lead in addressing your foreign counterpart on a first name basis unless he/ she asks you to do so.
